Max Cavalera: “We’re Going To Make More Killer Be Killed Records”

Arguably one of the biggest drawcards of the upcoming Soundwave Festival is the highly-anticipated debut performance from heavy metal supergroup Killer Be Killed. When the festival lands in February, Aussie fans can claim bragging rights to witnessing the so-called “Justice League of Rock” deliver their first ever live performance. And, according to guitarist Max Cavalera, it won’t be the last we hear from them, with a second record on the horizon.

“It’s pretty wild but it’s really connected with the fans,” the Ex-Sepultura and current Soulfly frontman told News Corp in a recent interview. “I had a blast making this record and made a great friendship with those guys — it’s a powerful bond that I hope will last for a long time.”

“Those guys” are bandmates Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan), Troy Sanders (Mastodon) and Dave Elitch (The Mars Volta), the latter of whom will be replaced by stand-in drummer Ben Koller (Converge) for the band’s Soundwave gig, with Elitch tied up with his other band, Antemasque.

“It’s a struggle on its own trying to get everyone together in the same country,” Cavalera admitted. But it doesn’t look like that’s going to stop them any time soon.

“We’re going to make more Killer Be Killed records in the future — this isn’t a one-album deal.”

The metal icon has also promised the band’s Soundwave set will pack a punch, with a few surprises chucked in. “We have an hour so I wouldn’t mind playing a Mastodon song, a Dillinger song, and maybe Soulfy song,” he said. “But some covers would be cool like some Motorhead, Bad Brains or some Ramones. Maybe we’ll get Mike Patton to jump up and sing on that — that would be awesome.”

A Patton cameo would indeed be awesome. It’s unlikely, though, seeing as the Faith No More frontman will be getting ready to perform in a different city when Killer Be Killed take the stage.

KBK are currently scheduled to storm Stage 4 at 2.40 pm on Slipknot day.
